Hej,
Dear Grupa 303,
I'm writing on behalf of the committee of the Southern Hang Gliding Club (SHGC) to ask for your help and support in encouraging new and visiting pilots to our area to be a part of our club, follow the site rules and so keep the farmers happy. As you may be aware, here in the South of England the farmers can be a difficult group and there are a lot of pilots who fly here. The SHGC has been looking after the interests of pilots in the area for many years and has carefully established rules and payments for use of the sites, which amounts to many thousands of pounds each year. If we are to be able to continue flying here it is essential that all pilots fully understand the rules and abide by them. We also expect all flyers to contribute to the rental of the sites by either paying day fees or becoming full members.
The club coaches and committee members regularly find visiting pilots on the hills who do not have sufficient knowledge of the site agreements and safety rules. Coaches are always available to brief visiting pilots.
It would help us all if you could communicate this situation with your members, perhaps by adding some information to your website explaining the sensitive nature of our sites and the high cost of renting them. I've included some links to our site below which you may like to add to the Grupa 303 site.
We welcome all pilots to our club and sites and would like to help everyone get the best from what we have. The site guide is not just rules, it's also the condensed knowledge of how to fly this area safely and effectively. Members and visitors to the club can ask advice from our excellent team of Club Coaches. Aside from hill flying we have a healthy social calender, regular coaching meetings, aerotow and an excellent and useful website.
All the best,
Dave Lewis (chief coach SHGC.)
